Anthony Stahelski, Ph.D., Director of Academic Assessment
Dr. Anthony Stahelski received his Ph.D. from UCLA in 1981 in Social and Industrial/Organizational Psychology. In the 1980s he worked as a corporate manager for Safeway Foods in Portland Oregon. He also opened his own currently ongoing consulting practice, specializing in leadership training, teambuilding and survey construction. In 1987 he accepted a position as an Assistant Professor at Portland State University.
In 1990 Dr. Stahelski accepted a position at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington as the Director of the Organization Development Program and as an Associate Professor in the Psychology Department. He continued to direct the program until 2006, at which time he accepted a position as Director of Academic Assessment at Pacific Northwest University of the Health Sciences in Yakima, Washington, while continuing as a Professor at Central Washington University.
Dr. Stahelski has done research on cooperation and competition, leadership, social power and teambuilding. His current research and scholarship interests include various forms of group-induced antisocial behavior, such as extremist hate groups, violent cults and terrorist groups. He teaches courses in management and leadership, industrial/organizational psychology, social psychology and developmental psychology.
